COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM SPECIAL MEETING WEDNESDAY 11:00 A.M. FEBRUARY 26, 2020
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Vice-Chairman
Laura Osiadacz, and Commissioner Cory Wright.
Others: Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk of the Board I; Jennifer Ellis,
Executive Director Kittitas County Housing Authority; and 3 members
of the public.
SPECIAL MEETING HOUSING AUTHORITY UPDATE COMMISSIONERS
At 11:00 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting to obtain
a project update from the Housing Authority.
Jenifer Ellis, Executive Director of the Kittitas County Housing
Authority updated the Board on on-going projects.
Pine Street Terrace in Upper County, deal closed in September of
2019. They are currently looking at repairs and the long-term needs
of the project and are using the same Management agreement that was
previously used.
Ms. Ellis gave an update on the Alder Terrace project. Alder Terrace
is currently at 47% project completion. Interior work is further
along from exterior work. Work will continue through the spring and
summer with a ribbon cutting ceremony in the fall. The Housing
Authority utilized local vendors and labor for the work on this
project. Tenants have been notified of the construction and given
reasonable accommodations through the process. Housing Authority
worked with other resources available in the community for tenants
while construction is taking place.
Ms. Ellis spoke about the property that was purchased on Bender
Road. Currently they are working with the City of Ellensburg on a
development plan for the property which must be completed by
February 2023. There is a low-income housing covenant on the
property. There was discussion about FISH potentially being
interested in the property.
Future projects for the Housing Authority are in the planning stage.
They have been meeting with the Upper County Planning Commission
about future projects as well.
