COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM SPECIAL MEETING
TUESDAY 1:00 P.M. FEBRUARY 25, 2020
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman
Laura Osiadacz, and Commissioner Cory Wright.
Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board and Phil Backlund.
SPECIAL MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD RETREAT COMMISSIONERS
At 1:00 p.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting to begin
planning for a Department Head retreat on March 31, 2020 at the
Wildhorse Wind Farm. He said Phil Backlund was willing to assist the
County with being a facilitator at a Board retreat with their
Department Heads.
Phil Backlund said he’s a retired Professor from Central Washington
University in the Communications Department and has been involved in
the community for many years. He provided a background of the
various types of retreats the Board could have with their Department
Heads including educational/problem solving/visioning.
The Board provided a brief history of the Management Team. The Board
said they’d like to have their Department Heads roles and
expectations clarified at the retreat, so everyone is on the same
page moving forward. Another area of focus is ways to better
communicate with everyone, and to outline their vision and goals.
Mr. Backlund suggested that the Board meet in a Special Meeting to
review their goals and expectations prior to the retreat so they are
clearly outlined. He offered to meet with individual Department
Heads and report back to the Board on the feedback he received to
assist them in preparing for the retreat.
Meeting adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
