04/21/2020 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM SPECIAL MEETING <br /> TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. APRIL 21, 2020 <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Via Phone: Vice- <br />Chairman Laura Osiadacz and Commissioner Cory Wright. <br /> <br />Others: Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Interim Maintenance <br />Director/Project Manager; Via Webex: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of <br />the Board II and 1 member of the public. <br /> <br />This meeting was provided to the public via Webex and they were <br />previously notified on the Agenda as to where they could access and <br />provide public comments. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING TRANSFER STATIONS SOLID WASTE <br />At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN WACHSMITH opened a Public Hearing to consider <br />Awarding a Professional Services Agreement to Operate the Kittitas <br />County Transfer Stations and to Set New Fees. <br /> PATTI JOHNSON, SOLID WASTE DIRECTOR/INTERIM MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR/PROJECT MANAGER reviewed a Staff Report and indicated the <br />current Contract with Waste Management for the operations of the <br />Transfer Stations and the haul and disposal of the municipal solid <br />waste, which is set to expire on June 30, 2020. They received two <br />proposals from Waste Management and Republic Services. She <br />recommended to the Board of Commissioners that they enter into a <br />Contract with Waste Management for a five-year period as well as the <br />new fee schedule which would come into effect on July 1, 2020. <br /> THOSE PROVIDING TESTIMONY: TAMI YAGER, SENIOR MANAGER, WASTE MANAGEMENT said the County has been great to work with over the <br />years and they look forward to continuing to work together in the <br />future. THERE BEING NO OTHERS REQUESTING TO PROVIDE COMMENTS, THE PUBLIC TESTIMONY PORTION OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED. RESOLUTION 2020-085 TRANSFER STATIONS SOLID WASTE CHAIRMAN WACHSMITH moved to approve Resolution No. 2020-085, a <br />Resolution Setting Fees for the Solid Waste Disposal, effective July <br />1, 2020 and to direct the Solid Waste Director/Interim Maintenance <br />Director/Project Manager to bring back Contract documents with Waste <br />Management at the May 5, 2020 Agenda. COMMISSIONER OSIADACZ <br />seconded. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />
