KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br /> AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: April 7, 2020 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request Board of County Commissioners approval to <br />advertise for a public hearing for the operations of the <br />transfer stations and the haul and disposal of the municipal <br />solid waste and to set new fees. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Currently the County has a contract with Waste Management to <br />operate the transfer stations and to dispose of the County’s Municipal Solid Waste. This <br />contract will expire on June 30, 2020. <br /> <br />Kittitas County Solid Waste in accordance with RCW 36.58.090 has prepared a request <br />for proposals for the operations of the Kittitas County owned transfer station and the haul <br />and disposal of the municipal solid waste. <br /> <br />Proposal were received on March 17, 2020, at the Kittitas County Solid Waste office <br />located at 925 Industrial Way, Ellensburg, WA 98926. <br /> <br />At this time, we request Boards approval to set a public hearing on April 21, 2020 at 2:00 <br />pm in the Commissioners Auditorium and to advertise the Public hearing in the paper of <br />record. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Solid Waste Department, <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approval of Board for Solid Waste Director to advertise the <br />Public hearing for the operations of the Kittitas County owned transfer stations and the <br />haul and disposal of the municipal solid waste and to set new fees. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Solid Waste Department. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Public Notice <br />LEAD STAFF: Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director. <br />
