AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: April 7, 2020
ACTION REQUESTED: Request Board of County Commissioners approval to
advertise for a public hearing for the operations of the
transfer stations and the haul and disposal of the municipal
solid waste and to set new fees.
BACKGROUND: Currently the County has a contract with Waste Management to
operate the transfer stations and to dispose of the County’s Municipal Solid Waste. This
contract will expire on June 30, 2020.
Kittitas County Solid Waste in accordance with RCW 36.58.090 has prepared a request
for proposals for the operations of the Kittitas County owned transfer station and the haul
and disposal of the municipal solid waste.
Proposal were received on March 17, 2020, at the Kittitas County Solid Waste office
located at 925 Industrial Way, Ellensburg, WA 98926.
At this time, we request Boards approval to set a public hearing on April 21, 2020 at 2:00
pm in the Commissioners Auditorium and to advertise the Public hearing in the paper of
record.
INTERACTION: Solid Waste Department,
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of Board for Solid Waste Director to advertise the
Public hearing for the operations of the Kittitas County owned transfer stations and the
haul and disposal of the municipal solid waste and to set new fees.
