AGENDA DATE: April 7, 2020
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to select TranTech and
KPFF for Structural Engineering Professional Services
Contracts supporting Public Works for up to a Three -Year
Period and Authorize the Public Works Director to execute
said Contracts.
BACKGROUND: PW continues relying on structural engineering consults
absent a licensed Structural Engineer on staff. On
01/21/2020; the Department requested and received
permission from the Board to solicit for professional
services (consistent with state law and County policy).
Responders provided qualifications for review on
02/13/2020. Staff has completed review of responder
information and recommends the selection of TranTech and
KPFF for standard professional contracts. The contracts
are in place for a two-year base period with a third potential
year if mutually agreed upon.
INTERACTION: Public Works.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution to select TranTech and KPFF for
Structural Engineering Professional Services Contracts
supporting Public Works for up to a Three -Year Period and
Authorize the Public Works Director to execute said
Contracts.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works.

RESOLUTION NO. 2020 -
SELECTING TRANTECH AND KPFF AS PUBLIC WORKS ON-CALL TASK ORDER
CONSULTANTS FOR UP TO A THREE-YEAR PERIOD OF SERVICE AND
AUTHORIZE THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR SIGNATURE ON SAID
CONTRACTS
WHEREAS: The Department of Public Works (PW) prepared a solicitation for engineering and
professional services consistent with state law and county code in January 2020;
and
WHEREAS: PW docketed a request to solicit for engineering and professional services on the
Board of County Commission general business agenda on January 21, 2020, and
WHEREAS: The Board of County Commissioners did direct PW proceed with solicitation
efforts and said process concluded with submittals being received on February 13,
2020; and
WHEREAS: Consistent with solicitation advertising an internal review team of PW reviewed
and scored all structural engineering submittals; and
WHEREAS: The consensus of the reviewers selects TranTech and KPFF for professional
services contracts for up to a three-year period (two-year base with possible third
year extension if mutually agreed upon);
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public, does hereby select TranTech and KPFF for standard professional
services contracts (acceptable to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office);
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Public Works Director is directed to sign said contracts on
behalf of the Board of County Commissioners.
