KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: April 7, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Notice of Call for Bids for the Teanaway Hydraulic <br />Improvements Phase 2: Lick Creek Culvert Replacement. <br />BACKGROUND: In 2014 Public Works submitted an application to the Washington <br />Federal Lands Access Program for Teanaway Road Hydraulics <br />Improvements. <br />In 2016 Public Works executed the final agreement documents from <br />the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) department awarding <br />$2,432,074 of grant funds for said project. <br />Public Works successfully negotiated a change of scope with FHWA <br />in August of 2016 to change the Hydraulic Improvement locations to <br />address the top two identified maintenance and flood locations. <br />Additionally, Public Works reached out to the Washington State <br />Department of Fish and Wildlife to ensure the proposed project <br />locations also addressed top priorities in the region for fish passage. <br />In 2019 Public Works completed the first phase of the project with a <br />culvert replacement where Teanaway Road crosses Story Creek. <br />Public Works has been working on the completion of the bid package <br />for Phase Two (2), culvert replacement where North Fork Teanaway <br />Road crosses Lick Creek. <br />The bid package will include bid requests for the improvement of <br />North Fork Teanaway Road, at Lick Creek by roadway excavation, <br />structure excavation, precast concrete structure installation, streambed <br />excavation and embankment, isolation structure installation, detour <br />construction and removal, roadway surfacing and paving, guardrail, <br />pavement markings, traffic control, channel excavation and other <br />work all in accordance with the Contract Plans, Contract Provisions, <br />and the Standard Specifications. <br />Call for bids are advertised in the legal newspaper and the Daily <br />Journal of Commerce. <br />Bids are scheduled to be opened on April 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in <br />the Public Works Department. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />
