Approve a Resolution to Award the Bid to
furnish Asphalt Materials for Calendar Year
2020.
BACKGROUND: Annually, Kittitas County Public Works goes
out to bid for the furnishing of Asphalt Materials
in accordance with Standard Specifications of
the Washington State Department of
Transportation. Call for bids are advertised in
the legal newspaper in order to provide equal
opportunity.
INTERACTION:
Bids were opened on February 20, 2020, at
2:00 p.m. in the Public Works Department.
Two bids were received. We are awarding to
both bidders to ensure availability of products
for county needs.
Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve Resolution to Award the Bic
to furnish Asphalt Materials for 2020;
Schedules 'A' and 'B' to Granite Construction
Company AND Columbia Asphalt and Ready
Mix.
HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works

RESOLUTION TO AWARD THE BID TO FURNISH
ASPHALT MATERIALS FOR 2020
WHEREAS: A Notice of Call for Bids was approved and signed on February 4, 2020, to
furnish Asphalt Materials for 2020; and
WHEREAS: Sealed bids were opened on February 20, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Kittitas County
Public Works and two (2) bids were received; and
WHEREAS: The Public Works Department recommends that the responsible bids of Granite
Construction Company and Columbia Asphalt and Ready Mix be accepted for
Schedules "A" and `B" to ensure availability of product, and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public, does hereby award the bid for 2020 Asphalt Materials Schedules "A"
and `B" to Granite Construction Company and Columbia Asphalt and Ready Mix to ensure
availability of product, upon such terms and conditions as specified in the Proposal submitted by
said bidder(s).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works is authorized to sign the
contract documents upon such terms and conditions specified in the Proposal submitted by said
bidder(s).
