KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: February 4, 2020 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Letter to Kittitas County Teachers Regarding <br />National County Government Month in April 2020. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: For many years the Kittitas County Board of <br />Commissioners office has held a coloring/drawing contest <br />for children in grades K-5 in recognition of National <br />County Government Month which is held in April 2020. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: This year’s theme from the National Association of <br />Counties is “Counties Matter”. The Kittitas County Board <br />of Commissioners theme for this year’s coloring/drawing <br />contest is “Looking Forward to My Future in Kittitas <br />County”. The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners <br />office encourages all children in grades K-5 to participate <br />in the contest in recognition of National County <br />Government Month and entries received will be hung <br />around the Courthouse hallways. This is always a highlight <br />of the year for both citizens and County employees when <br />they see all talented artwork displayed from the children in <br />Kittitas County. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve and authorize Board signature on a letter to <br />teachers in Kittitas County inviting and encouraging all <br />children in grades K-5 to participate in a coloring/drawing <br />contest in recognition of National County Government <br />Month in April 2020. <br /> <br />HANDLING: BOCC Staff to send out letters to elementary schools. <br /> BOCC staff to request IT to post onto the County website. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Letter to Teachers & Blank Coloring Page. <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board <br />
