AGENDA DATE: February 4, 2020
ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Letter to Kittitas County Teachers Regarding
National County Government Month in April 2020.
BACKGROUND: For many years the Kittitas County Board of
Commissioners office has held a coloring/drawing contest
for children in grades K-5 in recognition of National
County Government Month which is held in April 2020.
INTERACTION: This year’s theme from the National Association of
Counties is “Counties Matter”. The Kittitas County Board
of Commissioners theme for this year’s coloring/drawing
contest is “Looking Forward to My Future in Kittitas
County”. The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners
office encourages all children in grades K-5 to participate
in the contest in recognition of National County
Government Month and entries received will be hung
around the Courthouse hallways. This is always a highlight
of the year for both citizens and County employees when
they see all talented artwork displayed from the children in
Kittitas County.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve and authorize Board signature on a letter to
teachers in Kittitas County inviting and encouraging all
children in grades K-5 to participate in a coloring/drawing
contest in recognition of National County Government
Month in April 2020.
HANDLING: BOCC Staff to send out letters to elementary schools.
BOCC staff to request IT to post onto the County website.
