KITTITAS COUNTY Board of County Commissioners AGENDA STAFF REPORT AGENDA DATE: January 7, 2020 ACTION REQUESTED: Request the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) sign a Resolution allocating $154,136.12 of Hotel/Motel Funds towards the 2020 Lodging Tax Fund Grants Program for Special Events and Projects. BACKGROUND: The Cities of Ellensburg, Roslyn and Cle Elum along with Kittitas County have an Interlocal Agreement in place to create a consolidated lodging tax grant process for special events and projects. They each signed an Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement stating each entity will dedicate 13% of their lodging tax funds to the Consolidated Lodging Tax process. The Consolidated Lodging Tax Advisory Committee Work Group met in an open public meeting on November 15, 2019 and deliberated to reach a final funding recommendation to be forwarded to each entity’s legislative body for final approval. INTERACTION: The Consolidated Work Group recommended expending $251,239.12 of lodging tax funding to be designated for special events and projects. Kittitas County designated $154,136.00 to be available for grants as part of this process, Ellensburg designated $73,143.00 Cle Elum designated $23,189.00, and Roslyn designated $774.00. RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution allocating $154,136.12 of Kittitas County Hotel/Motel funds towards the 2019 Lodging Tax Events/Projects Grants as listed in the Resolution.
