Kittitas County <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br />Agenda Date: <br /> <br />August 6, 2019 <br /> <br />Action Requested: <br /> <br />To set a public hearing to declare surplus property to be removed from the County Assets <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />RCW 36.32.210 Inventory of county capitalized assets states: Each board of county <br />commissioners of the several counties of the state of Washington shall file with the auditor of the <br />county a full and complete inventory of all capitalized assets kept in accordance with standards <br />established by the state auditor. The Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners has <br />assigned this function to the County Auditor. The County Auditor as required by GASB and the <br />State Auditor are to report in the County’s financial statement all capitalized assets. The County <br />Auditor maintains and updates the records for Land, Infrastructure, Intangible Assets, Buildings <br />and Improvements, Other Improvements, and Equipment for both Governmental Activities and <br />Business Activities. Maintaining the assets includes adding purchases and removing items for <br />surplus, performing audits and depreciation of assets. <br /> <br />Kittitas County Ordinance 2009-04 establishes the comprehensive procedures for the <br />management of County Real and Personal Property and the county policy Asset Inventory, <br />guides the policy and procedure for managing the county assets. <br /> <br />Annually, all departments are to perform an inventory of their assets, and as a result of <br />this audit, we need to remove items that are no longer needed to the County; surplus, broken or <br />lost. <br /> <br />We request the Board of County Commissioners to set a public hearing to complete the <br />removal process and allow the items to be disposed. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Recommend the Board of County Commissioners set a public hearing at 2:00 pm on <br />August 20th, 2019, to declare property surplus to consider disposition of county assets. <br /> <br />Handling: <br /> <br />Copy of completed notice to Kay Kresge <br /> <br />Lead Staff <br /> <br />Kay Kresge, Fiscal Analyst <br />
