RATIFYING THE CITY OF CLE ELUM'S CONSTRUCTION AWARD TO DJB
CONSTRUCTION FOR THE EXTENSION OF CITY WATER AND SEWER TO THE
KITTITAS COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS PROPOSED MAINTENANCE FACILITY ON
NO. 5 MINE ROAD AT THE REQUEST OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
WHEREAS: Public Works recently received building permits for constructing a new County
Road Maintenance Facility at No. 5 Mine Road in Cle Elum, WA; and
WHEREAS: The City of Cle Elum recently solicited contractors for extending City water and
sewer utilities to the new County road maintenance shop site; and
WHEREAS: The City of Cle Elum awarded the construction project to DJB Construction as
the lowest responsible bidder on July 9, 2019 ; and
WHEREAS: Public Works has project funding in Fund 501 supporting completion of all utility
extension work;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public , does hereby ratify the City of Cle Elum' s utility extension
construction contract award to DJB Construction pursuant to the request of the Director of Public
Works.

Recommendation of Award
Dear Mayor McGowan:
The bid opening for the above referenced project was held at Cle Elum City Hall at 10:00 a. m. on
Monday, July 8, 2019 . A total of nine (9) bids were received with the low bid of $656,969.40, being
offered by DJB Construction, LLC, of Wenatchee, Washington. This low bid is approximately eleven
(11) percent below the Engineer's Estimate of $744,616.80.
We have reviewed and checked the bid proposals of all bidders and recommend the City of Cle
Elum award a construction contract to DJB Construction , LLC, in the amount of $656,969 .40.
Kittitas County concurred with the bid award recommendation, consistent with the lnterlocal
Agreement for reimbursement. Please send us a copy of the City of Cle Elum Council minutes
authorizing award of this project.
Enclosed are copies of the project Bid Summary for your review. Please advise if we may answer
any questions or provide additional information.
