AGENDA DATE: July 2, 2019
ACTION REQUESTED: Requesting Approval of a Resolution Declaring a Ban on Outdoor Burning
BACKGROUND: According to Kittitas County Code (KCC) 20.08.010, the Fire Marshal may establish
a prohibition against burning when the Fire Marshal determines that a burn ban is in
the public interest. Due to high temperatures, winds, lowering relati ve humidity, and
low fuel moisture content, the Fire Marshal established a burn ban effective at 12:00
a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019. KCC 20.08.020(1) requires the Fire Marshal to
provide the Board with a resolution implementing the burn ban within 14 days of
establishing the burn ban. The attached resolution would meet this requirement.
