COMMISSIONER’S OFFICE
AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: May 21, 2019
ACTION REQUESTED: Conduct a Public Hearing to Consider Amending Kittitas
County Code Chapter 2.04.010.
BACKGROUND: On April 23, 2019 the Board met with County Department Heads
to see if they felt they could benefit from additional Regular
Meetings. The initial outcome of the meeting was that Public
Works wanted to meet weekly instead of just the 2nd and 4th
Monday of each month; The Event Center would have their own
Study Session separated from Maintenance and Solid Waste;
Public Health wanted a Study Session separate from Board of
Health and the WSU Extension would like to meet every-other
month.
INTERACTION: Staff made contact with the Departments that expressed a desire to
make changes to what is currently in Code. After further
discussion with those Departments Public Works determined they
would stick with their current meeting schedule and WSU
Extension determined they would work with staff to set up Special
Meetings for a quarterly update with the Board. Staff worked with
Kady Porterfield, Event Center Director and Tristen Lamb, Public
Health Administrator to select a day and time for their “new”
Study Session/Regular Meetings.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the proposed Ordinance as reviewed/approved by
Deputy Prosecutor Chris Horner.
