KITTITAS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA STAFF REPORT AGENDA DATE: May 7, 2019 ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Special Event Application for the – Fellowship of Christian Athletes – Night of Champions Event to be held May 21, 2019. BACKGROUND: The Commissioner’s office received a Special Event Application to hold Fellowship of Christian Athletes – Night of Champions Event, to be held on 5/21/2019. INTERACTION: The applicant is requesting a waiver to the following: Kittitas County Code Chapter 5.20.100 – Penal Bond – Bond of Indemnity - The applicant has provided proof of insurance & endorsements and believes that it should be adequate coverage. The Applicant is currently going through the CUP process. The applicant will not need a waiver to Kittitas County Code Chapter 5.20.160 – Closing Hours since their event is scheduled to begin setting up at 5:00 p.m. and ending at 9:00 p.m., and according to the County Code, events shall not be open to the public before the hour of 7:00 a.m. The permit fee has been paid and Staff has routed the application and received a recommendation of approval from the following departments: Sheriff, Public Health, Solid Waste, Public Works, Prosecutor & Fire Marshal, spoke with the Auditor’s Office on the phone and confirmed the below recommendation (all other comments attached). Prosecutor: Endorsement needs to be provided and approved. Auditor: Applicant is not charging for the event and therefore Admissions Tax is not applicable. RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Special Event Application for the –Fellowship of Christian Athletes – Night of Champions Event to be held May 21, 2019, and grant their request for a waiver to Kittitas County Code Chapters 5.20.100 Penal Bond – Bond of Indemnity, noting the Applicant follows through with the requirements set out by Prosecutor by no later than 5/17/2019. HANDLING: BOCC Staff to send letter to applicant of the Board’s decision & notice to County Departments.
