KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: Tuesday, February 5, 2019 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Notice of Call for Bids to Purchase a <br />Sheriff s Office 21 ' — 23' Primary Marine Patrol Boat to Replace Marine 1, Vehicle <br />#0212, Using the Vehicle Registration Fund Balance and Restricted Money in the Law <br />and Justice Fund Reserved for this Purpose, and Surplus Vehicles 0212 and 0213 for <br />Trade-in Value. <br />BACKGROUND: The Kittitas County Sheriff s Office needs to replace the current <br />marine patrol boat, known as Marine 1, vehicle number 0212, VIN WFE01813I203 . This <br />is a 20' 2003 Custom Weld Cobra SE aluminum boat with its own dedicated trailer <br />(vehicle number 0213, VIN 1 C9BCC222131713671). The boat is used year-round in <br />marine patrol work, mainly on the Columbia River and Upper County lakes, and is at or <br />past its useful life for safe marine patrol operation. <br />In the preliminary 2016 budget discussions, KCSO and the BOCC agreed to earmark <br />$60,000 in the Law and Justice Fund for the future purchase of a boat. Additionally, there <br />is at least $45,000 available in the Vehicle Registration Fund (VRF) available for the <br />purchase of a boat. Finally, the estimated trade-in value of Marine 1 and its trailer is <br />$15,000-$20,000.
