AGENDA DATE: November 6, 2018
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve the Resolution to Ratify the Chair's
Signature on Federal Emergency Management Agency
Annual Community Rating System Report Documents
BACKGROUND: Kittitas County is enrolled in the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) Community Rating System.
This federal program lowers flood insurance rate premiums
for all county residents receiving federal floodplain
insurance.
The County is required to report annual activities to FEMA
consistent with maintaining its CRS rating.
FEMA required the Chair's signature before October 15,
2018. Timing for report submittal necessitated the Chair's
signature ahead of full Board action.
INTERACTION: Public Works; Flood Control Zone District
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Ratify the Chair's Signature on
Federal Emergency Management Agency Annual
Community Rating System Report Documents
HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works
ATTACHMENTS: Resolution ratifying the Chair's signature on the 2018 CRS
annual report to FEMA.

RESOLUTION NO. 2018 -
RATIFY THE CHAIR'S SIGNATURE ON FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
AGENCY ANNUAL COMMUNITY RATING SYSTEM REPORT DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS: Kittitas County is enrolled in the Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA) Community Rating System (CRS); and
WHEREAS: This federal program lowers flood rate insurance premiums for all county
residents receiving federal floodplain insurance; and
WHEREAS: The County is required to report annual activities to FEMA consistent with
maintaining its CRS rating; and
WHEREAS: FEMA required the Chair's signature by October 15, 2018 ahead of full Board of
County Commissioner action; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public, does hereby ratify the Chair's signature on 2018 FEMA CRS reporting
documents.
