HomeMy WebLinkAboutUCT Encompass EngineeringKittitas County Public Works Upper County Traffic Task Force r AUG O L 2018 Kffl ll Ati l,;UUNTY OE OF PUBLIC WORKS KITTITAS COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS UPPER COUNTY TRAFFIC TASK FORCE GROUP This shall be defined as a twelve member group consisting of two residents from the Westside/Nelson Siding area, two residents from Upper Peoh Point/Thorp Prairie area, two upper county business owners, one representative from the Sheriffs Office, one representative from the City of Cle Elum, one representative from the City of South Cle Elum, one representative from the City of Roslyn, one representative from Public Works (Director) and one representative from Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). Please state your available time commitment: Once a week -Once a month- Every other week? We would be available twice a week. Once during business hours and once outside of business hours. Theo Leonard in our office would take the lead with this committee. Mr. Leonard has resided at 911 Forest Service Road 4517 off Westside Rd for the past 7-years and is very familiar with the traffic issues. Marc Kirkpatrick, the company owner, business address 407 Swiftwater Blvd, Cle Elum. 3. What interests you most about becoming a member of the Upper County Traffic Task Group? Safety. Mr. Leonard has observed unsafe driving countless times on both Westside Rd and Nelson Siding Rd. The assumption is that the committee will work to head off what could end up being a traffic fatality due to the unsafe driving conditions. We also understand there is a parallel committee that will be working on road standards and we would help to coordinate any decision making or action between the two groups. 4. We will need to develop solutions and coordinate actions with multiple agencies. Have you worked in a team environment in the past? If so, please elaborate. We have specific experience working with municipalities and school districts on traffic maneuvers, traffic control, and design improvements related safety. In addition to designing transportation and traffic control Mr. Leonard has also worked in the field performing traffic studies and setting up traffic control elements. 5. Can you be fair and unbiased when it comes to selecting solutions to the issue of traffic? Yes. We understand there are lot of people with a vested interested and a lot of ideas about how to solve the issue. Our approach would be to engage with the committee and listen to the public in an effort to help develop a range of practical options and the associated budget and/or schedule for implementation.
