Water overtops the road at this culvert crossing every year, and the resulting erosion has washed away about half of the shoulder. The culvert also presents a barrier to upstream fish passage and contributes to local residential and agricultural flooding. Project work includes replacing the undersized corrugated metal pipe with a larger structure meeting the hydraulic demand and fish passage requirements. The project will also provide for installation of guideposts to improve delineation, and improving the shoulders to comply with current design standards. Construction is planned for summer/fall of 2020. Public Works is preparing to commence with design work on the project and is requesting the release of the federal funds for the Preliminary Engineering phase. This requires the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus to be signed and approved by the Chair of the BOCC.
