KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: August 7, 2018 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's signature <br />on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the <br />Kachess Lake Road Culvert Replacement Project <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works is planning to rehabilitate Kachess Lake <br />Road at approximate milepost 2.5 by replacing an <br />undersized culvert. Upstream fire damage has caused <br />sediment to travel downstream annually, continually <br />clogging and damaging the culvert and forcing water onto <br />the road. Damaged culvert ends must be removed <br />annually; currently the culvert ends are at the edge of <br />pavement. <br />Project work includes replacing the undersized corrugated <br />metal pipe with a larger structure meeting the hydraulic <br />demand and fish passage requirements. <br />Construction is planned for summer/fall of 2020. Public <br />Works is preparing to commence with design work on the <br />project and is requesting the release of the federal funds for <br />the Preliminary Engineering phase. This requires the Local <br />Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus to be signed and <br />approved by the Chair of the BOCC. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Motion to approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's <br />signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus for the Kachess Lake Road Culvert <br />Replacement Project <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Sara Folk, Engineering Services Manager <br />
