STATE OF WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 2018-
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING FUNDING FOR A GRANT PURSUANT TO STATE FUNDING
THAT WAS ALLOCATED TO LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TO VERIFY THE ADDRESS AND
RESIDENCY OF ALL REGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS AND KIDNAPPING OFFENDERS
UNDER RCW 9A.44.130.
WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature provides funding to local law enforcement
agencies through WASPC (the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs) to verify the
address and residency of all registered sex offenders and kidnapping offenders under RCW
9A.44.130; and
WHEREAS, the funds awarded are designed to support all aspects of Registered Sex
Offender Address Verification, and are required to be used for face-to-face verification of a sex
offender's address at the place of residency; and
WHEREAS, the grant cycle follows the state fiscal year, starting July 1, 2018 and ending
June 30, 2019, with funds disbursed in equal allotments each quarter; and
WHEREAS, there has been a budget amendment prepared to account for the additional
$4,500 in revenues and expenditures due to an increase in the award amount; and
WHEREAS, funding from this program will also be used to send at least one staff person
to at least one OffenderWatch User Group meeting and the SONAR Committee Meeting; and
WHEREAS, the funding supports the efforts of the Sheriff's Office to enforce to legal
requirements of Chapter 9A.44 RCW and thus improve the community's safety,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, that this
Agreement between Kittitas County and the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs
be adopted.
