COUNTY OF KITTITAS
STATE OF WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION APPROVING REVISED RECORDS MANAGEMENT PROCEDURE
RESOLUTION No. 2018-______
WHEREAS, Kittitas County officials and employees are responsible for capturing
records that document the official work of the county and retaining them in accordance with
retention schedules and guidelines approved by the Washington State Archives; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Archives has published Requirements for the
Destruction of Non-Archival Paper Records after Imaging “Scanning and Tossing” guidance
version 1.1 May 15, 2012; and
WHEREAS, The Kittitas County Board has previously directed the creation of a
Records Management Committee to support its efforts pertaining to the County’s obligations
with regard to creation, capture, and retention of Public Records; and
WHEREAS, that Committee has researched and drafted a proposed set of revisions to
the existing procedure to reflect the standards set by Washington State Archives; and
WHEREAS, the Board concurs in those proposed revisions, and desires to have this
procedure implemented and used as the basis for training of county employees;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of County
Commissioners of Kittitas County, Washington adopts the attached Records Management
Procedure effective May 15, 2018 and directs Information Technology to place the attached
Procedure on CAMAS, the Kittitas County Intranet.
