AGENDA DATE: July 3, 2018
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve Ordinance Extending Moratorium on Solar Projects that
Qualify as Major Alternative Energy Facilities
BACKGROUND: On June 25, 2018, the Board of Commissioners approved a six-month extension of
the moratorium on applications for solar projects that qualify as major alternative
energy facilities, and directed staff to prepare enabling documents. The ordinance
extending the moratorium is attached.
INTERACTION: CDS, Prosecuting Attorney, Board of County Commissioners
ATTACHMENTS: Ordinance extending moratorium for six months or until standards and/or criteria for
siting solar facilities are adopted, whichever occurs first.

RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Board approve the ordinance.
HANLDING: Presentation to the Board by Kittitas County Community Development Services.
