HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes-2018-078 Amending Previous ResBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF KITTITAS STATE OF WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2018-Or:J-<g RESOLUTION AMENDING PREVIOUSLY PASSED RESOLUTION 2018-007 AWARDING FUNDING FOR GRANTS PURSUANT TO LAW AND JUSTICE COUNCIL RECOMMENDATIONS ON SPENDING OF 1/lOrn OF 1% SALES TAX RESERVES WHEREAS: The Kittitas County Law and Justice Council met at their regularly scheduled meeting on December 20, 2017, and voted unanimously to approve the below described funding recommendation; and WHEREAS : This expenditure shall be made from the 1/10th of 1 % sales tax reserve account established by the Board of County Commissioners for spending on special projects to foster cooperation, sharing of resources and enhancement of criminal justice projects within Kittitas County; and WHEREAS: Funding is to be made available January 1, 2018 except where noted as available upon approval ofthis resolution; and WHEREAS: This amendment is based upon the fact that the Kittitas County SAR no longer has the funds necessary to cover the difference between the grant award and the cost of purchasing and installing a replacement generator into the Sheriff Office's Mobile Command vehicle, known as MC61, that difference being $2,623.77; and WHEREAS: The lowest responsible responsive bidder was awarded the bid out of three bids obtained; and WHEREAS: The Sheriff's Office owns the vehicle known as MC61 and has the funding available to cover the expenditure of the needed generator to replace the current worn out generator. The requested amount is $7,500. The existing generator model is no longer available. Modifications to the generator compartment, fuel delivery, energy storage (batteries) are required to accommodate a new generator. Current reliability is a problem. Examples: No-starts, Fuel pump replacements, electrical load (fuses go out). This generator is 13 years old and has over 2000 hours of service. It has been regularly maintained, however it is nearing the end of its service life. Reliable power is mission critical during SAR missions and other. emergency response tasks. We have attached bids for sourcing and the installation of a new generator. Please note that the cost estimated is for the purchase of the generator and a portion of the installation.
