HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes-2017-067 1;10 1% Sales TaxBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF KITTITAS STATE OF WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2017-Olo 7 RESOLUTION AMENDING PREVIOUSLY PASSED RESOLUTION AWARDING FUNDING FOR GRANTS PURSUANT TO LAW AND JUSTICE COUNCIL RECOMMENDATIONS ON SPENDING OF 1I10TH OF 1 % SALES TAX RESERVES WHEREAS: The Kittitas County Law and Justice Council met at their regularly scheduled meeting on September 21, 2016, and voted unanimously for the below described funding recommendation; and WHEREAS: The expenditure shall be made from the 1II01h of 1 % sales tax reserve account established by the Board of County Commissioners for spending on special projects to foster cooperation, sharing of resources and enhancement of criminal justice projects within Kittitas County; and WHEREAS: Funding is to be made available January 1, 2017 except where noted as available upon approval of this resolution; and WHEREAS : This amendment is based upon the attached records provided showing that Mr. Musser personally instead of any official entity of the Ellensburg School District paid for the items for which reimbursement is sought and was previously approved, and WHEREAS: The Chair of the Law and Justice Council has reviewed the documents and request, and sought this amendment, and WHEREAS: Mr. Musser should be reimbursed as promptly as possible in the normal course of operations once the originally issued warrant is returned to the Kittitas County Auditor and made void according to the practices of that office based upon the intent of the Law and Justice Council and the facts shown in the above referenced attachments NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners hereby adopts the following funding recommendations as made by the Kittitas County Law and Justice Council and these expenditures shall be made from the 1/10 1h of 1 % sales tax reserve account. 17-17 Neil Musser as an individual on behalf of Ellensburg High School L&J Student group start up: $500.00 4 i1'l . Gene_pana, L&J Budget Committee Kittitas County Law and Justice Council Grant Application 2016 Grant Deadline is July 1, 2016 for consideration. The L&J Budget Committee will evaluate all requests and forNard recommendations to the L&J Council for approval. The applicant may be required to make a presentation to the Committee if the application requires clarification. The final decision on grant funding is subject to approval by the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners. The Kittitas County Law and Justice Council is offering mini grants to organizations with com munity programs that support the law and justice system. Each year, approximately $20,000.00 is ear marked from the o n e~tenth of 1 percent law and justice sales tax for this grant program. This can include eqUipment, materials, new programs and projects that support the goals of the Law and Justice Council and that benefit the public and law and justice community. For this year's grant applications, the Law and Justice Council is promoting the following grant themes: • Officer Safety • Emergency Preparedness • Innovative Youth Mentoring Programs These themes are only suggestions for grant applications, and any application meeting the grant requirements will be considered. Applicants must complete the form below. Please attach any vendor estimates, training costs and proposed budget breakdown with total amount requested along with all equipment and supply costs that need to be considered for this grant. (Law and Justice grants do not pay for salaries.) Grant funds will be available January 1, 2017 unless there is a demonstrated urgency.
