BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2016 -02 I <br />AMEND WESTSIDE ROAD AND HUNTZINGER ROAD 2014 HSIP GRANT APPLICATION <br />AND AUTHORIZE THE SIGNATURE OF THE COUNTY ROAD ENGINEER ON THE <br />AMENDED APPLICATION <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County Public Works submitted a HSIP Grant Application in June 2014 <br />(Resolution 2014-106) supporting safety improvements to Westside Road and <br />Huntzinger Road; and <br />WHEREAS: The cost estimate for design elements supporting Westside Road are <br />significantly less than the amount originally identified in the 2014 Grant <br />Application ; and <br />WHEREAS: Huntzinger Road has numerous areas of risk owing to the lack of guardrail; and <br />WHEREAS: Public Works staff desires re-tasking the Highway Safety Improvement Program <br />(HSIP) funds supporting guardrail deployment along Huntzinger Road; and <br />WHEREAS: Amending the original grant application requires approval from the Washington <br />State Department of Transportation; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners , in the best <br />interest of the public, does hereby direct staff prepare an amended grant application submitting <br />same to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) providing additional <br />funding to Huntzinger Road and reducing funding for Westside Road maintaining the original <br />amount of HSIP project funding. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Road Engineer is authorized to sign the grant <br />application amendment and submit same to WSDOT. <br />DATED this 21st day of June , 2016 , at Ellensburg, Washington . <br />Attest: <br />~.
