COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
CO iI S S I OILERS CONFERENCE ROOD!
REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:50 A.M. JANUARY 10, 2011
Board members present: Chairman, Paul Jewell; Vice Chairman Alan
Crankovich & Commissioner Obie O'Brien.
Others: Mandy Robinson, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Lisa Young, HR
Director; Judy Pless, Budget & Finance Manager; Mandy Weed,
Administrative Assistant II; Kirk Holmes, Public Works
Director/Interim Community Development Services Director.
DEPARTMENT HEAD
Director Holmes requested permission to advertise for two
Engineering Tech positions. He explained that one position is grant
funded and expected to only last for approximately two years. He
indicated that a majority of the grant funded position would be
focused on design and guardrail work. He explained that as we let
these projects go by and put thein off, the County becomes less
attractive to State funding. He explained that the other Engineer
Tech position was previously Meld by Amber Green, who they recently
hired in CDS as a Building Inspector. He indicated that the position
is very important as it is responsible for doing the County pavement
ratings, which stems a lot of the DPW road work_ throughout the year
and plays a large part in the scheduling of future DPW projects.
The Board questioned if the pavement ratings could be done in house
by one of the County Road Crew members. There was discussion
regarding possible Union conflicts, but ultimately asked Mr. Holmes
to look at the DPW organizational chart and consider some options to
bring back to the Board at a later date.
The Board directed Mr. Holmes to not take anything out of the
organizational chart at this point.
KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
DEPUTY CLERK OF THE BOARD KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
,41
Gill `E GtivJ "
Mandy Ro,nson Paul Jewell, Commissioner
1/10/2011 MINUTES 8APPROWED
t 0r4 1 n
