COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />JANUARY 6, 2011 <br />Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice -Chairman Alan <br />Crankovich and Commissioner Obie O'Brien. <br />Others: Mandy Robinson, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Mark Larson, <br />Public Health Officer; Linda Navarre, Public Health Co- Interim <br />Director; James Rivard, Public Health Co- Interim Director; Amber <br />Simon, Public Health Accountant. <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />PUBLIC HEALTH <br />COMMISSIONERS <br />At 1:45 p.m. Chairman Jewell opened a special meeting to discuss <br />budget concerns in the Public Health Department. <br />Amber Simon presented the Board with a memo outlining what they have <br />been informed of regarding direct impacts to our County's Public <br />Health budget .from the Legislature. She indicated that 2011 will <br />present itself with a number of new challenges.for the Public Health <br />Department, and there is currently a loss of funding in the amount <br />of $61,211.00. <br />The Board and Public Health discussed a memo presented which offered <br />different budget scenarios as well as the pro's and con's to each of <br />them. <br />Chairman Jewell requested that Public Health get him a "worst case <br />scenario" for their budget. He also said that at that point they can <br />look and see if the General Fund can make up any of the dollar <br />amount in which Public Health would "worst case scenario" have to <br />cut, <br />They continued discussions regarding mandated services. Ms. Navarre <br />explained the importance of having staff as knowledgeable as they <br />are to be able to react to "major events" <br />Mr. Rivard expressed concerns of burnout in a prolonged scenario. <br />The Board determined that they would take some time to review the <br />documents that the Public Health staff had been requested to provide <br />to them. <br />2011-01-06 MINUTES <br />
