KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: Tuesday, June 5, 2018 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve Interlocal Agreement between Kittitas <br />County and City of Ellensburg for Forensic Electronic Media Examiner. <br />BACKGROUND: The purpose of this agreement is to provide Mutual Aid Law <br />Enforcement assistance to provisions of Chapter 10.93 RCW with regard to the expert <br />forensic examination of various communication devices such as but not limited to cell <br />phones, computers, tablet devices, media storage devised and other items of like nature. <br />Both parties acknowledge that the expertise required to examine such devices is not <br />otherwise readily available within the local area, and that KCSO has a commissioned law <br />enforcement officer (Forensic Electronic Media Examiner) who is property trained and <br />experienced, capable of conducting such examinations and available through the KCSO <br />MCU (Major Crimes Unit). <br />INTERACTION: This Agreement was reviewed and approved by the Kittitas County <br />Prosecutor's Office. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Request to Approve Interlocal Agreement between Kittitas <br />County and City of Ellensburg for Forensic Electronic Media Examiner. <br />HANDLING: Return one signed original to the Sheriff s Office <br />LEAD STAFF: Clayton Myers, Undersheriff <br />
