Direct Staff Prepare Award Letters to 2018 Surface
Transportation Block Grant Recipients
BACKGROUND: Every biennium, federal transportation funding flows
through the state from the federal government for local
agency improvements. The County solicits cities for grant
proposals. The proposals are scored by a technical
committee (County and City members) and the committee
meets to make a funding recommendation to the Board of
County Commissioners.
The committee recently met and the results of the project
scoring sheets are attached to this report (EXHIBIT 1). A
summary of project and recommended funding award is
attached as EXHIBIT 2.
INTERACTION: Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Direct that staff prepare letters of award to project
recipients.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works

STATE OF WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 2018 -
TITLE: 2018 Surface Transportation Block Grant Awards
WHEREAS: Federal transportation funding is available to local agencies via 2018 Surface
Transportation Block Grant (STBG) projects administered by Kittitas County; and
WHEREAS: Approximately S2.5 million is available for rural and urban transportation
improvement funding; and
WHEREAS: Local agencies in the County submitted grant applications that were reviewed and
scored by the STBG technical committee; and
WHEREAS: Kittitas County is proposing a final project award list to the Board of County
Commissioners for funding consideration; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public, does hereby direct Public Works to issue grant award letters to 2018
STBG Grant recipients in the amount defined in EXHIBIT 1 to this resolution.
