KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: May 15, 2018 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the Manastash <br />Road Bridge #76132 Replacement <br />BACKGROUND: Bridge #76131 on Manastash Road over the South Fork of <br />Manastash Creek is in need of replacement. The existing <br />structure was constructed in 1975 and is showing significant <br />deterioration in both the superstructure and the foundation. <br />Girders are spalled, cracked, and delaminated with large areas of <br />exposed, corroded reinforcing steel. Due to these distresses, the <br />current structure is restricted to a load limit for a single vehicle <br />not to exceed 22 tons gross weight. In addition to structural <br />impacts of the girders, the foundation is also threatened by scour, <br />as a result of the existing bridge not providing sufficient <br />waterway opening to meet seasonal variations of flow in <br />Manastash Creek. <br />The existing bridge is 28.0' wide and 32.0' in length. The <br />replacement structure will be 30.5' wide and 70.6' in length. <br />The increased length will provide adequate hydraulic opening <br />and will meet fish passage requirements. <br />The contract plans, specifications, and engineers estimate were <br />prepared by Jacobs Engineering. <br />The Engineers estimate for the proposed project is $2,715,350. <br />Kittitas County Public Works has received funds from the 2017 <br />Local Bridge Program Federal Funding (BRAC) as well as <br />through the Rural Arterial Program (RAP) for this project. <br />Bids are scheduled to be opened publicly on June 6t", 2018 at <br />10:00 a.m. in the Public Works Department. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the <br />Manastash Road Bridge #76132 Replacement Project. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Call for Bids <br />LEAD STAFF: Sara Folk, Engineering Services Manager <br />
