KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: March 20, 2018 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Chair's signature on the Local <br />Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the Manastash Road Bridge <br />Replacement Project <br />BACKGROUND: The Manastash Road Bridge project will replace the deteriorated bridge <br />over Manastash Creek at MP 10.60. This bridge is currently load <br />restricted and is the only access in and out for many residents and <br />commercial operations. <br />INTERACTION: <br />Public Works successfully received a grant from Federal Highways BRAC <br />program, funding the bridge replacement in the amount of $2,746,970. <br />Public Works has successfully negotiated the adjustment of the previously <br />approved County Road Administration Board Rural Arterial Trust <br />Account (RATA) funds such that RATA funds will be used <br />to cover the 13.5% local match requirement through the BRAC program. <br />RATA funds have a 10% match requirement. <br />The total project cost is anticipated to cost $3,000,000 to $3,500,000 with <br />a net impact to local road funds to cover the required match following <br />payment by RATA and BRAC funding of approximately $35,000 to <br />$50,000. <br />Public Works is preparing to advertise the project for construction in April <br />of 2018 and is requesting the release of the Federal Construction Funds. <br />This requires the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus to be <br />signed and approved by the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. <br />Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Chair's signature on the Local <br />Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the Manastash Road Bridge <br />Replacement Project <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Lucas Huck, County Engineer <br />
