KITTITAS COUNTY CRITICAL AREAS ORDINANCE UPDATE
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON

Overview
Professional consulting services for updating Kittitas County Critical Areas Ordinance.
Desk Top Review and Project Coordination
This Phase is 100% complete.
Research Current Best Available Science (BAS)
This Phase is 100% complete.
Complete a Revised Draft Critical Areas Ordinance
Draft CAO with edits completed and sent to County.
Two meetings with advisory group completed.
Only one meeting included in scope of work. One additional meeting attended and one
more scheduled for February 13, 2018.
Current Status
75% complete.
Attend one more advisory group meeting, minor revisions to draft CAO, work with
County to get draft CAO ready for public comment.
Not included in scope: attendance of two additional meetings, updating sections of code
not requiring BAS updates.
Budget adjustment $4,500.
Final Critical Areas Ordinance
Draft CAO has not been approved for public comment.

Current Status
Review and incorporate public comments with assistance from County.
Budget adjustment $5,000
Public Meetings
Attend up to five (5) public meetings including Planning Commission meetings and
Board of County Commissioners meetings.
Provide testimony and answer technical questions during meetings.
Maximum of two (2) staff will attend each meeting.
Budget adjustment $8,000
TOTAL Amendment: $17,500
Assumptions:
Review and incorporation of new comments will be restricted only to those comments
that indicate the currently proposed draft CAO is not consistent with current
Washington RCWs or policies. No major rewrite of the existing draft is anticipated.
SCJ staff will attend the hearing for the proposed CAO when it is presented to the
Kittitas County Commissioners for adoption.
Preparation of staff reports before the Board of Commissioners and routing to
Washington Department of Commerce will be completed by Kittitas County.
