Approve a Resolution to Award the Bid to
furnish Liquid Asphalt Materials for Calendar
Year 2018.
BACKGROUND. Annually, Kittitas County Public Works goes
out to bid for the furnishing of Liquid Asphalt
Materials in accordance with Standard
Specifications of the Washington State
Department of Transportation. Call for bids are
advertised in the legal newspaper.
INTERACTION:
Bids were opened on February 22, 2018, at
2:00 p.m. in the Public Works Department.
One bid was received and deemed responsive.
Bids for 2018 have an increase of
approximately ten percent (10%) from 2017 bid
pricing.

RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve the Resolution to Award the
Bid to furnish Liquid Asphalt Materials for 2018
to Western States Asphalt, Inc. for Schedule
Wand Schedule 'B'.
HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works

RESOLUTION
NO. 2018 -
TO AWARD THE BID TO FURNISH LIQUID ASPHALT MATERIALS FOR 2018
WHEREAS: A Notice of Call for Bids was approved and signed on February 6, 2018, to
furnish Liquid Asphalt Materials for 2018; and
WHEREAS: Sealed bids were opened on February 22, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Kittitas County
Public Works Office, and one (1) bid was received; and
WHEREAS: The Public Works Department recommends that the responsible bid of Western
States Asphalt, Inc. for Schedule "A" and for Schedule "B" be accepted; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public, does hereby award the bid for 2018 Liquid Asphalt Materials to
Western States Asphalt, Inc. for Schedule "A" and for Schedule `B", upon such terms and
conditions as specified in the Proposal submitted by said bidder(s).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works is authorized to sign the
contract documents upon such terms and conditions specified in the Proposal submitted by said
bidder(s).
