ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Acknowledge Agreement between Kittitas County
Sheriffs Office and CARFAX for Police Regarding Reporting of Vehicles Involved in
Collisions to CARFAX.
BACKGROUND: This agreement will allow the Kittitas County Sheriff s Office to
report vehicles involved in collisions to CARFAX, potentially providing aid in law
enforcement issues both within and without our jurisdiction.
The Sheriff's Office will NOT be electing to participate in E -Commerce Service, wherein
KCSO would be selling the data collected to other parties (e.g., insurance agencies). All
that will be provided to CARFAX will be the VIN and the fact that it was involved in an
accident.
INTERACTION: The Kittitas County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has reviewed and
approved.
RECOMMENDATION:, Request to Acknowledge Agreement between. Kittitas County
Sheriff s Office and CARFAX Regarding Reporting of Vehicles Involved in Collisions to
CARFAX.
