RE: Child Abuse Prevention Proclamation
Dear Commissioners:
This is to request that Kittitas County proclaim the month of April 2017 as Child Abuse Prevention
Month.
For your convenience, I am attaching a proclamation that may be used. It would be appreciated if this
matter could be placed on an upcoming agenda during the month of March 2017.
Court Advocates for Children is the volunteer court appointed special advocate program representing the
best interests of abused and neglected children in Kittitas County Superior Court.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
Whereas, children are vital to our city's future success, prosperity and quality of
and are our most vulnerable assets;
Whereas, all children deserve to have safe, stable, nurturing homes and commui
to foster their healthy growth and development;
Whereas, child abuse and neglect affects both the current and future quality of IITe or
a community;
Whereas, communities help ensure that all children grow to their full potential by
providing parents with social support, knowledge of parenting and child development,
and concrete resources to help them nurture their children;
Whereas, effective child abuse prevention strategies succeed because of partnerships
among citizens, human service agencies, schools, faith communities, health care
providers, civic organizations, law enforcement agencies and the business community;
Therefore, we do hereby proclaim APRIL as CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
and call upon all citizens, community agencies, faith groups, medical facilities, elected
leaders and businesses in the County of Kittitas to participate in efforts to support
families, thereby preventing child abuse and strengthening the communities in which
we live.
