AGENDA DATE: April 3, 2018
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Write-off
of Uncollectible Debts owed to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office dating from 2011.
BACKGROUND: Resolution 2004-02 established the civil fee schedule for the Sheriff’s
office. The Sheriff’s Office Chief Financial Manager has recently reviewed the Spillman
accounts receivable reports for 2011 and found there to be $150.00 in uncollectible debt
which meets the statute of limitations requirements and may be written off.
Per RCW 4.16.040(2) there is a six year statute of limitations for actions where accounts
such as these resulting from the ordinary course of business are receivable. The write-off
of uncollectible debt is fiscally responsible and necessary to provide an accurate measure
of Kittitas County’s financial position.
INTERACTION: This was reviewed and approved by the Kittitas County Prosecutor’s
Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Write-off
of Uncollectible Debts owed to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office dating from 2011.
