ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of KC Law and Justice Council By-Law Amendments.
Resolution required.
BACKGROUND:
Law and Justice Council has been statutorily required, but this changed when funding to support went away.
Council has continued to operate because all involved felt the benefits of meeting and sharing outweighed
disbanding. In addition, it is the organization that vets and makes recommendations as to 1/10 of 1/10
County grant program.
INTERACTION:
We have tried to be more inclusive, and have expanded some of the positions on the Council, to allow
greater upper County participation and to reflect the change in county structure as it relates to probation
services provided in the county.
Additionally, we felt it was time to update the language concerning disbanding of the committee.
RECOMMENDATION:
Pass a resolution approving the amendments.
HANDLING:
PA to provide original signed by L & J Chairs as well as red-lined version for comparison, as well as
proposed resolution.
