RE: Kittitas County’s Comprehensive Shoreline Master Program Update
Dear Director Bellon,
On behalf of Kittitas County, I write to inform you that the Kittitas Board of County Commissioners has agreed
to all of the required changes specified in Attachment B of your December 8, 2015 conditional approval letter.
The Board of County Commissioners has also agreed to the following recommended changes as specified in
Attachment C of your December 8, 2015 conditional approval letter:
Recommended Items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, and 21.
The County would like to propose alternative language for Ecology’s recommended change Item 12. Ecology
proposed the addition of the following language to Section 5.2(B):
The following regulations apply to all uses and developments in shorelines unless stated otherwise.
The County proposes the following language be added to Section 5.2(B) as an alternative to Ecology’s
recommended change. The County’s proposal is thought to be more consistent with a similar description in
Section 5.2(C):
The following provisions apply to any use or development occurring in shoreline jurisdiction whether or
not a permit or other authorization is required from Kittitas County.
Kittitas County has sent digital copies of the Shoreline Master Program with these changes incorporated to
your representatives from the Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Program; Tim Gates, Lennard
Jordan, Gary Graff, and Zach Meyer.
We look forward to implementing our new Shoreline Master Program. If you or your staff have questions or
require additional follow-up please contact Doc Hansen at 509-962-7506 or email
doc.hansen@co.kittitas.wa.us.
Sincerely,
Obie O’Brien
Chair Board of County Commissioners
