KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA SESSION DATE: January 5, 2016 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve Change Order # 11 for the Teanaway <br />Paving Project. <br />BACKGROUND: Various quantity over -runs and under -runs, when <br />calculated together, result in a cost over -run total of <br />$113,172.43. <br />Primary contributors to the over -run was the <br />significant amount of Hot Mix Asphalt needed to <br />pre -level the roadway and achieve the design cross <br />slope throughout the entire length of the project. <br />Also significant were quantity over runs in beam <br />guard rail, posts, non -flared terminals, anchors, <br />labor and traffic control made necessary when <br />guardrail sections were added due to previously <br />unanticipated steep side slope conditions. These <br />roadway sections were not identified in the original <br />FHWA topographic survey. <br />All additional work was performed in accordance <br />with appropriate design standards and best <br />engineering practices under the oversight and to the <br />satisfaction of the County Engineer. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Motion to approve Change Order #11 for the <br />Teanaway Paving Project. <br />HANDLING: Return a copy of the Resolution to Public Works. <br />Return two copies Change Order #11. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Change Order 411 <br />Justification and Cost Analysis <br />Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Roy Chance, Construction Manager <br />
