AGENDA DATE: October 20, 2009
ACTION REQUESTER: Consider the appointment of Clayton. Myers to the Kittitas
County Fair Board. (Finishing a term previously held by the
late Bob McBride)
BACK -GROUND: On September 10' staff received an application from Clayton
Myers requesting to rill the Security Director vacancy that
was recently vacated by the late Bob McBride, on the Kittitas
County Fair Board.
INTERACTION: On October 7, 2009, the BoCC received a letter from Kittitas
County Fair Board Secretary Roylene Crawford indicating
the Fair Board had met and determined that Mr. Myers
would be a good fit to fill the vacancy.
RECOMMENDATION: Consider the appointment of Clayton Myers to the Kittitas
County Fair Board for a three -year term effective
imniediately through December 31, 2olo, (finishing a term)
and to authorize the Chairman to sign a. letter of
appointment.
HANDLING: Deputy Clerk of the Board to notify members of the KCFB of
the Commissioners decision.

I wish to continue the work that the late Bob McBride accomplished during his time with the
Fair Board. 1 have family and friends involved in the Fair and l feel an obligation to support the
event. The Fair is the single most celebrated Familv event in our community.

RE: Kittitas County Fair Board Vacancy — Security Position:
As you are aware Kittitas County Fair Board Security Director Bob McBride passed
away in June of 2009. We chose not to fill the position until after fair not only for timing
issues but also out of respect for the McBride family. We feel that now is the time to
move forward and ask that you appoint a director to complete Bob's term.
Clayton Myers stepped up and helped to fill a huge gap during the 2009 Kittitas County
Fair. Clayton was professional and very easy to work with and completed the tasks as
though he had held the position for years.
We did receive applications for the position from two qualified persons, Clayton being
one and Rick Daugherty being the other. Both men have extensive backgrounds in law
enforcement and are more than qualified to take on the duties of Security Director.
The Kittitas County Fair Board would like to recommend that you appoint Clayton Myers
to complete the term.
