PROCLAMATION
OCTOBER 2017
“National Disability Employment Awareness Month”
WHEREAS: People with disabilities live and work in Kittitas County; and
WHEREAS: Approximately 5,500 members of our County experience a disability; and
WHEREAS: People with disabilities contribute to the economic, social, and cultural vitality of the Kittitas
County; and
WHEREAS: Workplaces welcoming of the talents of all people, including people with disabilities, are a critical
part of our efforts to build an inclusive community and strong economy; and
WHEREAS: In this spirit, The Board of County Commissioners of Kittitas County recognizes October 2017 as
“National Disability Employment Awareness Month” to raise awareness about disability
employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of people with disabilities to
our community and workforce and affirm Kittitas County’s commitment to an inclusive
community;
NOW, THEREFORE: the Board of Commissioners of Kittitas County do hereby Proclaim October 2017 as
“National Disability Employment Awareness Month” and in so doing, call upon employers,
schools and other community organizations in the County to observe this month and strive to
ensure welcoming inclusive workplaces, and to advance the important message that people with
disabilities are equal to the task throughout the year.
ADOPTED this 17th day of October, 2017.
