KITTITAS COUNTY <br />Human Resource Department <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: October 17, 2017 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: REQUEST TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER A CHANGE TO <br />COUNTY CODE TO ALLOW FOR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING <br />TRANSPARENCY <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners has received a request from <br />the Freedom Foundation to hold collective bargaining contract <br />negotiations in an open public meeting format. <br /> <br />The Open Public Meetings Act (RCW 42.30.140) permits collective <br />bargaining contract negotiations to be exempted from the open <br />public meetings requirements. <br /> <br />The Board has met with key stakeholders and asked HR Director <br />Young to place the request for a public hearing on the Agenda for <br />consideration.
