ACTION REQUESTED:
BOCC approval of a contract with Beckwith Consulting for creation of an Upper Yakima River Access
Plan.
BACKGROUND:
The lodging tax advisory committee, upon request of the public lands advisory committee, recommended
allocating $50,000 from lodging tax funds for creation of an Upper Yakima River Access Plan. The BOCC
accepted the LTAC's recommendation and approved the allocation earlier this year. This contract will hire
Beckwith Consulting to facilitate the process and provide the final plan for BOCC approval and adoption.
Beckwith Consulting previously assisted the county in updating the event center strategic plan and in
creating the tourism infrastructure plan and the parks, recreation and open space plan. Beckwith has
considerable experience in recreation planning and is well-qualified to provide this service to the county.
The contract scope of work has been presented to and discussed with the public lands advisory committee
and they have approved.
