RESOLUTION NO. 2017-
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE WRITE-OFF OF UNCOLLECTIBLE DEBTS TOTALING
$15,337.66 PAYABLE TO THE KITTITAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
WHEREAS, Kittitas County Resolution Number 2004-02 establishes the civil fee
schedule for the Kittitas County Sheriff's office; and
WHEREAS, Kittitas County Sheriff's Office's billing procedure until 2014 consisted
of sending one bill with no follow up or collections processes, a procedure that has been
changed to reflect more sound fiscal controls; and
WHEREAS, the Kittitas County Sheriff and his Chief Financial Manager have
reviewed the 1995-2010 outstanding civil fee accounts receivable, and, in consultation
with the Kittitas County Auditor's Office, have determined that the Sheriff's Office has civil
fee accounts receivable totaling $15,337.66 which are uncollectible; and
WHEREAS, RCW 4.16.040(2) provides -a six (6) year statute of limitation for
actions which are based upon accounts receivable resulting from the ordinary course of
business; and
WHEREAS, the write-off of uncollectible accounts is fiscally responsible and
necessary to provide an accurate measure of Kittitas County's financial position,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, by the
Board of County Commissioners of Kittitas County, Washington, that the uncollectible civil
fees as listed on Exhibit A, attached hereto, are hereby determined to be uncollectible
and are written off from the accounts of Kittitas County.
