AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: September 5, 2017
ACTION REQUESTED: Request the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) sign a
Resolution allocating up to $165,000.00 of Hotel/Motel Funds
towards the 2018 Lodging Tax Fund Grants Program for Special
Events and Projects.
BACKGROUND: The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) met in an open public
meeting on August 23, 2017 and voted to recommend to the BOCC
allocating up to $165,000.00 of Hotel/Motel tax funds for the 2018
Events/Projects grants. The City of Ellensburg is allocating
$36,400.00; City of Cle Elum is allocating $8,000.00; City of Roslyn
is allocating $2,000.00; for a total consolidated amount available for
2018 Lodging Tax Events/Projects Grant of up to $211,400.00.
INTERACTION: The Cities of Ellensburg, Roslyn and Cle Elum along with Kittitas
County have an Interlocal Agreement in place to identify a
Consolidated Lodging Tax Work Group which reviews and rates each
Events/Projects application and recommends funding to the governing
bodies. Each municipality contributes lodging tax funds to be
allocated to the Special Events and Projects Grant Applications.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution allocating up to $165,000.00 of Kittitas County
Hotel/Motel funds towards the 2018 Lodging Tax Events/Projects
Grants.
