A RESOLUTION APPROVING FUNDING FOR 2018 CONSOLIDATED LODGING TAX
GRANT PROCESS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS AND PROJECTS
WHEREAS: Kittitas County imposes a lodging tax assessed on the sale or charge made for furnishings
of lodging according to R.C.W. 67.28.180 and R.C.W. 67.28.181; and
WHEREAS: In accordance with the aforementioned R.C.W.’s a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee has
been established; and
WHEREAS: In accordance with R.C.W. 67.28.1816, lodging tax revenues may be used, directly or
indirectly through a convention and visitor bureau or destination marketing organization
for tourism marketing, the marketing and operations of special events and festivals
designed to attract tourists, and supporting the operations of tourism-related facilities
owned or operated by nonprofit organizations described under 26 U.S.C. Sec. 501(c)(3)
and 26 U.S.C. Sec. 501 (c)(6) of the internal revenue code of 1986 as amended; and
WHEREAS: The County, through the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, has established a grant
application and review process to consider proposals for using such funds in cooperation
with the Cities of Roslyn, Cle Elum and Ellensburg; and
WHEREAS: The County and the Cities of Roslyn, Cle Elum and Ellensburg have all signed an
interlocal agreement defining the terms of the consolidated process for this grant process;
and
WHEREAS: The Kittitas County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee made recommendation to the
Board of County Commissioners that $165,000 be allocated from lodging tax funds for
the 2018 grant process; and
WHEREAS: The Board of County Commissioners agreed with the Lodging Tax Advisory
Committee’s recommendation.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That Kittitas County hereby accepts the recommendation
of the Kittitas County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and allocates up to $165,000 for the 2018
Consolidated Lodging Tax Grant Process for Special Events and Projects.
