COUNTY OF KITTITAS
STATE OF WASHINGTON
ORDINANCE NO. 2017 -
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE KITTITAS COUNTY CODE SECTION 4.12.010
WHEREAS, Kittitas County Ordinance 1999-05 and Resolution 1986-87
established County policy for setting Sheriff's fees and jail costs, stating that these fees
shall be set by the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners is authorized by RCW
36.18.040(2) to set those fees to cover the costs of administration and processing of the
civil services; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners finds that the proposed
amendment to the Kittitas County Code improves the clarity of the current statement
regarding the setting of jail and Sheriff's fees; and
WHEREAS, due notice of the open public hearing was given as required by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, that the Kittitas County Board of
Commissioners does hereby authorize amending Kittitas County Code Section 4.12.010
as indicated below.
Current language in Section 4.12.010: Sheriff's fees and jail costs shall be set by
the Kittitas County Sheriff's office.
Proposed Language for Section 4.12.010: Sheriff's fees and jail costs shall be
collected by the Sheriff's Office for their official services and shall be set by
resolution approved by the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners.
