1 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF KITTITAS STATE OF WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2017-_______ A Resolution to Call a Special Election to Determine if the City of Kittitas Should Be Annexed to Kittitas County Fire District #2 WHEREAS, The City of Kittitas, on July 24, 2017, passed Ordinance No. 17-013 stating an intent to join Kittitas County Fire District #2 and declaring that the public interest will be served thereby; and WHEREAS, Kittitas County Fire District #2, on July 25, 2017, passed Resolution No. 17-10, concurring in the above mentioned annexation; and WHEREAS, Kittitas County Fire District #2 transmitted notification of the above mentioned legislative activity to the Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners, and WHEREAS, RCW 52.04.071 states that, upon receipt of the above described decisions and corresponding legislative acts, “The county legislative authority . . . shall by resolution call a special election to be held in the city or town and in the fire protection district at the next date provided in RCW [29A.04.321].” NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, 1. A special election shall be called in the City of Kittitas and in the current boundaries of Kittitas County Fire District #2 to determine if The City of Kittitas should be annexed to Kittitas County Fire District #2; 2. The above called election shall occur on the next date provided by RCW 29A.04.321, and notice thereof shall be given as provided by RCW 29A.52.351; and 3. The ballot title shall be in substantially the following form: PROPOSITION 1 CITY OF KITTITAS AND KITTITAS COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT #2 ANNEXATION PROPOSITION Shall the City of Kittitas be annexed to and be a part of Kittitas County Fire District #2, effecttive January 1, 2018? Yes ______ No ______
