KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: July 18th, 2017 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the Taneum <br />Road Bridge Replacement and Washout Repair Project <br />BACKGROUND: The East Taneum Road and Thorp Hwy intersection has <br />been restricted in width by concrete traffic barrier due to <br />the failure of the existing bridge identified in late 2015. <br />West Taneum Road at MP 3.95 has washed out and is <br />restricted to one lane by concrete traffic barrier since early <br />2016 <br />The contract plans, specifications, and engineers estimate <br />were prepared by Sargent Engineers for the replacement <br />bridge and by County staff for the washout repair. <br />The Engineers estimate for the proposed project is <br />approximately $1,250,000 ($550,000 bridge replacement, <br />$700,000 washout repair) <br />This project will install a new structure abutting an existing <br />structure in the center of the intersection of Taneum Road <br />and Thorp Hwy. Additionally wood studded rock <br />revetment and hydraulic barbs will be utilized to restore the <br />washout portion of West Taneum Road. <br />Bids are scheduled to be opened on August 9th, 2017 at <br />10:00 a.m. in the Public Works Department. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the <br />Taneum Road Bridge Replacement and Washout Repair <br />Project. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Call for Bids <br />LEAD STAFF: Lucas Huck, County Engineer <br />
