Kittitas County <br />Commissioners <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />7/18/2017 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Appoint the initial members of Kittitas County's tourism infrastructure plan capital improvement program <br />technical review team (TRT). <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The BOCC recently approved a new grant application and process for awarding funding to tourism-related, <br />large-scale, municipality-owned capital projects as a strategy for implementing Kittitas County's Tourism <br />Infrastructure Plan. The new application and process includes a 4-step program with step 1 being the <br />formation of a capital improvement program (CIP). The grant application was made available within the <br />county and ten applications were received. Upon recommendation of the County's Lodging Tax Advisory <br />Committee (LTAC), the BOCC approved nine of the applications to comprise the initial CIP for Kittitas <br />County's Tourism Infrastructure Plan. <br /> <br />Steps 2 -4 of the new process include review and recommendation by a TRT in addition to the LTAC and <br />final approval by the BOCC. According to the approved process, the TRT is an advisory body made up of 5 <br />to 7 members to include volunteers with industry experience and technical knowledge in planning, design, <br />and development of projects. As Chairman of the LTAC, I have reached out to several members of the <br />public in an effort to find appropriate and willing volunteers to serve on the TRT. The opinion of the LTAC <br />was solicited and considered in retaining suitable candidates. <br /> <br />Of all the potential candidates solicited, the following individuals have indicated his or her willingness to <br />serve: Bill Boyum, Gayle Dobberthien, Susan Grindle, Bill Hanson, Dale Loveland, Mitch Williams, and <br />Bill Vertrees. <br /> <br /> <br />INTERACTION: <br />Kittitas County's Lodging Tax Advisory Committee <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Appoint Bill Boyum, Gayle Dobberthien, Susan Grindle, Bill Hanson, Dale Loveland, Mitch Williams and <br />Bill Vertrees as the initial members of Kittitas County's Tourism Infrastructure Plan Capital Improvement <br />Program Technical Review Team. <br /> <br />HANDLING: <br />Notification be made to appointees by letter. <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Paul Jewell <br />
